Resins Pays “Tree-bute” to 60 Years of Chemistry (and Beyond)!

Hundreds of guests, including current and former Resins Group associates and their families from as much as three generations, cheerfully reunited to create a powerful chemical compound of fun, nostalgia and camaraderie at the 60th Anniversary Party of Resins Inc. on the evening of December 17 at the Wack-Wack Golf and Country Club in Mandaluyong City, with the theme “RI60 — Tree-bute: Resins Inc. @ 60 and Beyond” and the sub-theme “Resins and I: Let’s Make It Happen.”
The “Tree-bute” theme, stated RI General Manager Carolina R. Carlos in her opening speech, was not only “a pun or our pet CSR advocacy at the RI Group” — the promotion of young and fast-growing trees through subsidiary Claveria Tree Nursery Inc. to help wood producers and small farmers – but was a tribute to the current and former employees and shareholders who made Resins grow and “brought the group to where it is today.”
The party featured an audiovisual production on the Resins Group’s business accomplishments over the past few years and its CTNI tree advocacy, accompanied by choice quotes from Laudato Si, Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical on climate change. Culminating the AVP presentation was a live rendition by the Andrews Sisters-type girl group Baihana of “What a Wonderful World,” a favorite song of Resins Inc. President Meneleo J. Carlos which describes, among other things, the natural beauty of trees.
Also providing entertainment were the REO Brothers, a highly successful young band composed of former Yolanda survivors from Leyte who performed classics by the Beatles, Beach Boys, Bee Gees and other sixties groups. Not to be outdone were employees from Resins subsidiaries RI Chemical Corporation and Pigmentex Inc., who performed energetic dance numbers to prove that Resins Group employees also “got talent.”
For the “green” grand finale, Mr. Carlos, RI Chem Director Filomena R. Carlos and EVP Ernesto E. Lichauco handed out to the guests over 100 CTNI tree seedlings, mostly of the indigenous bagras species, for them to grow. This, as explained by RI Chem employees Roda Bautista and Sherwin Billones, the program emcees, was the Resins Group’s way of “figuratively and literally planting the seeds for a better environment.”
In his speech, Mr. Carlos noted that when the idea of starting a tree nursery was first discussed, the thrust was to provide “material supply” so that Resins’ business would continue to thrive. But as time went on and the danger of climate change, as well as the role of trees in fighting it, became more apparent, the importance of CTNI became clearer, he stressed.
“I therefore want to give you this challenge of keeping it up, helping the company grow and fulfill its mission… Let’s do our work seriously but let us not take ourselves seriously, OK?” MJC said as he proposed a toast to Resins Inc.
It was a joyful, highly meaningful and unforgettable night for all, shining brightly with the promise of yet 60 more years of chemistry and beyond for the Resins Community with its stakeholders!
