MJC’s Appointment to PCCRD

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has appointed Mr. Meneleo J. Carlos, Jr. to the newly-created Presidential Coordinating Council on Research and Development (PCCRD), representing the private sector.
Through Executive Order No. 604 issued on 16 February 2008, the PCCRD was established to recommend, among others, ways to increase R&D investments in the country and to set up a monitoring and evaluation system for R&D institutions.
Mrs. Arroyo serves as the PCCRD chair. Other members of the Council are the Secretary of the Department of Science and Technology as vice chairman, and representatives from selected departments of the government, the private sector, the academe and the organizations of scientists and engineers as members.
In a letter dated 4 March 2008, Secretary Estrella F. Alabastro of the Department of Science and Technology formally informed Mr. Carlos of his appointment to the Governing Council and transmitted the original copy of the appointment paper.
