Jacinto Marasigan was on many occasions a star basketball and bowling player during his 25-year stint at Resins Inc. Jack, as he was fondly called, joined the company in 1975 as an accounting clerk, and throughout his employment remembered with fondness two activities that he participated in. They were the yearly basketball

and bowling tournaments, and the rallies he joined against the Marcos regime.

Jack visited his colleagues at the accounting department on March 18, 2009 and followed up the documents he needed to facilitate processing of his SSS benefits. He was with his wife and daughter.

Recalling the sports activities, Jack said basketball and bowling demanded hard work and teamwork; two traits that have helped him succeed at Resins and at his job in the supermarket in New Jersey, USA, where he is now based.

“ Mas mahirap magtrabaho sa America; parang pinipiga ka ng husto ng kumpanya para masulit ang bayad sa iyo, “ Jack said.

It was in 2001 that he decided to move as an immigrant to the US, together with his wife Myrna and their youngest daughter. He resigned from Resins in 2000, thankful of his exposure to accounting tasks such as handling payrolls, payables and receivables.

“ Ang daming empleyado at contractuals nuong panahon ko, and there was a time, I also had to handle the payroll of the Pigmentex staff. Medyo mahirap, but I learned a lot,” jack recalled.

Memorable was his participation in the protest rallies in the 80s when he and other employees joined the march from Pasig to Baclaran and Luneta to demand the ouster of then President Ferdinand Marcos.

“ We were even at Camp Crame during the People Power Revolution of 1986, wearing yellow shirts as a sign of protest and support to the opposition,” Jack said.

The Philippines is his retirement place as Jack says he does not intend to stay long in the US. “ In 2 to 3 years, we may decide to go home permanently and be with my entire family including my other two children who have stayed in the Philippines while we remain in New Jersey, “ Jack noted.
