Work Hard 1
Work hard and engage with people through networking to be able to learn from the experiences and insights of other people which you cannot find in books. These pieces of advice came from Mrs. Maria Loenora Loudon-Brown, a former Resins employee for 15 years, who visited the office on February 9, 2009.

Nora, as she was fondly called, met Mrs. Filomena Carlos, Ernesto E. Lichauco and other associates to talk about her previous stint at Resins and her current preoccupation at her residence in the Isles of Man, a tiny island in Europe with 80 thousand people. .

In 1964, She joined Resins at age 16 and worked at the office of MJC assisting in the secretarial and administrative chores. She then moved to Finance and Personnel where she was promoted as assistant personnel manager. While at Resins, she took up a business administration course in the evening at the University of the East.
“ Management was good to me, allowing me to work and at the same time complete my studies,” Nora said.

She recalled with fondness her work organizing various company activities such as the annual excursions, and basketball and chess tournaments. She also put together seminars on natural birth control to help parents appreciate the value of life and parenting.

I love to be with people and help them, she said. Among her memorable experiences at Resins was helping wives of contractuals engage in livelihood programs such as sewing and hairdressing.

In 1979, Nora left Resins and with her family moved to Copenhagen, Denmark to work with the Scandinavian Airline System. She worked with the company in the ticketing, and administration departments for 26 years.

It was in 1990 that she met her husband, Robert, a Scottish and a public health specialist. Both live in the Isle of Man, a tiny self-governing island located in the Irish Sea at the geographical centre of the British Isles.The island is not part of the United Kingdom but foreign relations, defence, and ultimate good-governance are the responsibility of the government of the United Kingdom.

A Danish and a Filipino, Nora now works as a social care worker at the Southlands Resource Centre in Port St. Mary, Isles of Man and serves as president of the Filipino Association in the Isles of Man where about a thousand Filipinos reside, mostly in the health care, nursing and finance fields.
